Day 6: Trusting God Completely
Scripture:
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. — James 1:12
...the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.
- Daniel 11:32 (NKJV)
Devotional:
There was a tightrope walker in the early 1900s, travelling from town to town, amazing audiences with his daring feats. One day, he announced to a curious crowd that he would perform a never-before-seen stunt. At 8 o'clock the next morning, the townspeople gathered to watch him walk a tightrope stretched between the two tallest buildings in town. With bated breath, they watched him step out onto the wire, each movement a delicate balance between life and death. When he reached the other side, the crowd erupted in cheers. Now convinced of his skill, they eagerly agreed he could do it again.
The tightrope walker then asked for a volunteer to ride on his shoulders as he crossed back. Silence fell over the crowd; no one dared. Finally, a seven-year-old boy stepped forward. The crowd watched in awe as the boy climbed onto the man's shoulders and the tightrope walker began his precarious journey back. Each step was fraught with danger, but the boy was unafraid and they made it to the other side.
Afterwards, a reporter found the young boy and asked him "Young man, where did you get such incredible courage and strength to climb up on top of that man's shoulders while he walked across that wire, cheating death every step of the way?"
The little boy replied, "Well, the truth is, I’m not really that brave. You see, that tightrope walker is my dad."
In our lives, God often calls us to step out in faith, to trust Him as the boy trusted his father. Because it'#s one thing to believe God can do it, it's another to get on God's shoulders and do it with Him! In other words, It’s one thing to believe in God's power; it's another to act on that belief.
Daniel 11:32 says, ...the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. True faith means climbing onto God's shoulders, doing the hard things, the right things, and the great things with Him - knowing He will carry us safely through the trials and tribulations of life.
Practical Reflection:
Is there something God is calling you to do that feels overwhelming? Identify it and take a step of faith. Like the boy on the tightrope, trust that God will support you. Reflect on areas where you need to stand firm and take action. Strengthen your relationship with God through prayer, reading His Word, and fellowshipping with other believers. Let your faith be active and impactful, knowing that God’s plans for you are great and only achievable through faith.
Prayer Response:
"Lord, give me the courage to step out in faith, trusting You completely. Help me to stand firm and take action, even when the path seems dangerous. Strengthen my relationship with You so that my trust in Your guidance and protection grows. Use my faith to accomplish great things for Your glory. Amen."
Sermon Quote:
As Reinhard Bonnke used to say, 'I have no interest in playing with marbles when God has called me to move mountains.' God has great plans for you, only achievable through faith, only accessed through faith.
